Bose ... Is it worth the money?
By eddiecarrara
You see the commercials, you see the in store demo's, you read the advertisements in magazines, but are you paying for the Bose name, or is the sound quality really that much better? I guess a better question would be, how well do you hear?
At a glance
My first set of speakers were Bose AM5 Acoustimass, I had a very small living room and not much room for large speakers. I wasn't sure if it would deliver the sound I wanted (being 20 yrs old) but I was surprisingly blown away, so was the neighbor who lived upstairs. I had a visit from him asking me to turn down the base, but as he looked around the room he asked where are your speakers? I just laughed and pointed at the little tiny satellite speakers.
Longevity
23 years later I still have those speakers filling up a much larger space with the same rich quality base. I spent over $700 on those speakers 23 years ago and my friends thought I was crazy, but I loved the sound quality Bose delivers. Since then I have purchased a set of 401's, 301's, Quiet comfort 15 noise cancelling headphones, Acoustic wave radio with 5 disc changer and 2 sets of rock speakers for around my pool. Got music?
Easy set up
One of Bose best features is how easy the systems are to set up and use. Their systems like the CineMate Digital Home Theater, are a snap to hook up and start using. Do your do diligent and read customer reviews, find out if there are any unseen problems, find out what people think about the Bose product, you will be very surprised to see the word "WOW" everywhere because of the powerful punch Bose delivers, a small package producing such a massive sound. Love it love it love it!

Bose is all around us
I never realized how many places of service use Bose speakers until I started paying attention. One bowling alley we go to has 301's scattered in very precise positions, with the noise from the bowlers, one might think you can't hear any music, but the alley is filled with clear crisp highs and rich smooth lows.
I was talking with my insurance agent in her office when I notice music filling up the room, I couldn't see any speakers, but the music filled the large office as if there was a speaker in every corner. Then I notice the little wave radio sitting on a shelf, I was so impressed, that night I went home and ordered my very own Bose wave radio and I have never had one day of buyer's remorse.
Is it worth it to you?
So is Bose worth the money? It's a very personal decision. The quality of Bose is without a doubt superior, and the longevity is unbeatable, but some people can't find it in there heart to buy something that expensive. I had my AM5's for 23 years, paid $730 at that time, if you figure out how much I paid per month it comes out to $2.64, most people spend more than that on gum in a week or a cup of coffee in a day. If you love the sound of good quality music, then you will love the sound of Bose in your home or office.
Bose usually offers a 30day in home trial offer which is very cool, try it for 30 days, and if you don't like them or it, send it back, at least you have the option to try it before you buy it. Bose realizes once you take that first step and actually hear the sound fill the room , there's no turning back, You will fall in love with them. The Waldorf Astoria in NYC has a Bose wave radio in all of the luxury rooms in the towers, that's tells you something right there, some of the rooms are 1100 sq ft and these little radios fill the room with beautiful sounds.
Conclusion
So, the answer to my question is.... Bose is worth the money, you're not just paying for a name, the quality is in the sound, and the longevity of their products is unparalleled, and the unexpected pleasure you hear from these speakers is unmatched. Is there a better speaker out there? I guess so, but I stuck by my brand for so long, I haven't had time to notice, when I find something I love, I stick with it. Want more proof that Bose is worth the money? Read the customers reviews at Amazon, it's the best way to find out if a product is worth the money. I find that customers generally give an honest review of products they purchase, good or bad

Thanks shynsly for the feedback, I love those little speakers, but the neighbors don't. Lol just like the car :)
Bose delivers - I am very impressed with their products. Good review.
Thanks Neil, I have always had an affinity for Bose, that first set of AM5s was all it took.
Great hub! I've been looking at some of their products for a while but wasn't sure about quality. So this hub has been a great help! Many thanks for sharing this very useful information.
Hey Seeker7, Glad I could help! I fell in love with Bose at the age of 20 and I still have my AM5's, it was an awesome sounding set of speakers at the time and they still rock after 24 years of abuse, lol. When I bought the set, I had bought white, once they started to discolor from years of dust I spray painted them flat black, it looks factory... no kidding :)
I have always wondered about Bose speakers. This has been a very helpful hub. Thanks so much for your honest assessment of Bose. I will be looking into purchasing a set now.
Hello bruzzbuzz, thank you for stopping by and spending the time to comment. I have always been impressed by Bose technology and quality, it's amazing how a tiny little speaker can create such a beautiful reproduction of an orchestra. If you do happen to purchase a Bose product, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Hey..I'm 25 years old...I already had one Bose inear headphone and recently I bought a V25 system. There are many contraditory speculation about Bose products in the market. But thanks for your genuine update :-)
Thanks Abhisek, I started out with Bose and I still buy their products today. I just got a pair of quite comfort 15 noise canceling headphones, and I absolutely love them, sometimes I wear them with no music playing, as soon as you turn them on, the noises that are around you, disappear, they are amazing.
Everyone has an opinion, so I make my decisions on what I hear and what I see, with Bose, I like both. Thanks for stopping by and commenting :)
I too am an avid Bose believer, I bought my first Bose system used, the Bose Acoustimass 5 (1993 model). I am still to this day using them as a gym system in my home. My cars all have Bose, my in home system is Bose, heck I even have a Bose key ring! One thing you didn't mention, that I think is noteworthy, their loyalty to customers. I had a small problem with my Acoustimass 5 system a while back, and they still helped me trouble shoot, we're talking about a system that today is 15 years old. They stand behind their products till the bitter end. Bravo on your review!
Hello Wesley, Very good tip for consumers. I have that same AM5 set I bought new in 1992, lol, I never have any problems with the Bose products I own, therefore I have never had to use customer support, so I'm glad you brought the up.
My house is full of Bose products, I want to buy some of their new products but everything is working fine. My son is getting old enough where he needs a good system in his bedroom, so I might give him my vintage set and make an upgrade on dads equipment, I think dad need a new toy every now and then. Thanks for taking the time to comment, it was nice to meet another Bose junkie, take care.

Great review, as a former DirecTV tech, I have to admit, I've never been terribly thrilled with Bose's actual systems, the remote and the UI always seemed a tad... "clunky", if that makes any sense? Of course it's entirely possible that's cuz it's not like I ever got much chance to actually play around with them so much as just get it working and move on.
That said, I will definitly support your argument that the quality and... "mass"... of the sound you get from those little tiny speakers is just rediculous, it's like they worked out a deal with the devil to fill them with some sort of "black magic", lol. I hope a lot of people heed your advice (and give you many "clicks" following it)... they won't be dissappointed!
